Tom, WB1CBY, reports that he is using Firefox installed on a flash drive. He wondered if he could install the HamLinks ham radio toolbar on that drive as well.

After a few emails, he reported that it now works. Here is his writeup (with his permission) on what he did to make it work.

Success! Here's how I had to do it...

I tried the install on another machine with Firefox but had trouble
finding it. Searched the entire C: drive (the only drive) with no
success. I noticed that when I tried to install it though there was a
link in the window so I copied the link int IE7 and that let me download
the .XPI file. I saved it and then inserted the flash drive, launched
firefox, used File,Open File and installed it and voila!

However that was not the end to my adventure - I then went back to my
normal desktop (in the shack) which does not have Firefox loaded on it
and then I tried to run the radio link to listen to SolderSmoke I found
that the RadioXPI was not installed. And when I tried to install it it
said that Firefox was not installed. Technically true but the browser
was actually running at this time. So on a hunch I copied the .exe into
the folder on the flash drive
X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\App\Firefox (X changes depending on
which PC the flash drive is plugged into and the drive letter assigned)

I ran it there and it installed perfectly. Restarted Firefox and the
SolderSmoke was coming through!

If I may make a suggestion, a section on your site that references
PortableApps and a link to download the files and a little tutorial.
This is truly portable computing and VERY handy. I can bring my entire
operating environment and use it on any Windows PC attached to the
Internet.

Next, I am going to try to get DX4Win, N1MM, ccUser (my operating
environment for contests and general logging) installed and working on
the flash drive.

Thanks so much for your help!
