Based on my Butternut HF6V review, I received this question today from KB2TZK:
Quote:
I am thinking about the 9 band vertical. My space & money limits what I can do. A multiband vertical seems to be the answer. I am wondering between a roof mount or ground any ideas? My space in the yard is surround by a L shape chain link fence. The feed line would probably be 100' to the shack. The snow does pile up sometimes 4'. Any help on this would be appreciated.

You'll probably want to check out my review and ice storm pics on my
website if you haven't already done so:

You'll see that my Butternut HF6V was mounted on a pipe attached to a
chain link fence and had resonant radials at the feedpoint. It wasn't
perfect, but I had limited options at the time. If I were to do it
over again, I'd probably choose a SteppIR BigIR III (with 80m loading
coil) and a set of elevated radials.

That would be a bit more expensive, but fewer headaches (I'd think)
and better performance.
