Hi
Evaluating MobileLog before registering. Notice the options screen says "Use negative values for East" (which is unusual) and help says "positive values for East" Web site says "longitude (West = +)"

Good catch. I'm fairly certain that the help is wrong and the website and screen are correct. I believe that I was following what most other ham radio software packages and data files (like cty.dat) follow on this... negative values for east.

Anyway, thanks for reporting the inconsistency.

No drama. I guess Google maps etc are perhaps the most universally used these days and I think negative South/West positive North/East applies therein.
Interesting Googling on this topic. If http://nationalatlas.gov/articles/mapping/a_latlong.html#three is an authority, they say

"The Earth is divided equally into 360 degrees of longitude. There are 180 degrees of longitude to the east of the Prime Meridian; when the directional designator is omitted these longitudes are given positive values. There are also 180 degrees of longitude to the west of the Prime Meridian; when the directional designator is omitted these longitudes are given negative values. The 180-degree longitude line is opposite the Prime Meridian on the globe, and is the same going either east or west."

Cheers
Roger
