PPCMorse, the Morse Code trainer for PDAs, has been updated to version 1.2.73. Anyone with a PocketPC or modern WinCE based PDA can use PPCMorse to sharpen their CW skills prior to the fall ham radio contesting season (aka radiosport). Amateur radio contest regulars (and DX enthusiasts) know that Morse Code is alive and well. [...]

OK1IAK, Vojtěch Bubník, has released version 1.0.11 of PocketDigi (yeah). What is PocketDigi? PocketDigi is an application that allows your Windows CE-based PDA (or SmartPhone) to act like the PC in your ham radio shack. That is, using the mic and headphone jack it can send and receive RTTY, PSK31, PSK63, CW and other modes. [...]

MobileLog 2 rev 2.0.73 af160 was released today to cover two issues.
First… I had a request that MobileLog be modified to display properly on square screen PDA phones (SmartPhones?). Typically, these are 240×240 resolution devices. I had designed MobileLog to account for these PDAs to some extent by keeping elements that required input (buttons, form [...]

After a long time without updates, I have finally found time to post. I had decided to not post to the blog until MobileLog 2 was released.
Well, in the past month, I have spent many hours updating MobileLog 2, Propfire and the website. In December I had made a week long trip to Manila. 11 [...]

I had a business trip this week to Connecticut. Extra time sitting in airports gave me a chance to make some more progress on MobileLog. In this latest version, I now have a search feature implemented (an improvement over the original MobileLog 1.X version I think), DXCC country data (indicates if the QSO is a [...]

I had a business trip last week to Texas. Two days in Dallas and two days in Houston. This gave me a chance to use my bluetooth GPS (Holux GR 231) with my Cingular 8125 PDA Phone (Cingular) and map4pda (a great/free mapping solution for PocketPC Windows Mobile 5 devices).
I have to say that [...]

MobileLog 2 continues to make progress. Here is a screenshot taken this afternoon from my Cingular 8120. This is the QSO entry screen to the ham radio logbook. Basic data entry functions are enabled (navigation buttons, clear, delete, add, update, …). Also allows exporting the database to a CSV file.
More to come.

A few updates at NØHR.com.
I’ve created a few Windows Mobile 5 (Smartphone) ham radio themes. Like my PocketPC PDA Ham Radio Themes, they’re free for the taking.
My ham radio product review section has been enhanced to provide recent reviews to my popular ham radio links page. I did that to encourage more folks to write [...]

Just ordered a bluetooth GPS (Holux GR 231) for my Cingular 8125 PDA Phone (Cingular). With this and some PDA software apps that interface with the GPS, I should never get lost again!
What’s next? Oh, I suppose I could get back to trying APRS/CE or writing some GPS apps myself - but for now, [...]

I’ve really started to spend a bit more time in the past few days on the next generation of MobileLog. For the longest time, I was debating the effort required to try to “port” MobileLog 1.X (for PocketPC PDAs) to the new OS and platform, but Microsoft’s changes in Windows Mobile 5 have become insurmountable. [...]
