Ameritron’s new solid state HF amp
Ameritron’s 2009 catalog indicates that they will have a new solid state amplifier – the ALS-1300. Over the next 3 to 5 years I could be in the market for a new ham radio HF amplifier and, as I’ve said previously, a solid-state, idiot-proof, point-and-shoot unit might work best for my needs.
The Ameritron ALS-1300 will produce 1200 Watts PEP and should compete with the Tokyo Hy-Power HL-1.5Kfx and the SPE Expert 1k-FA.
The catalog indicates that FCC approval is pending.
As always, there will be pros and cons to consider, cost will be a factor, as will compatibility with the rest of the station.
It’s far too soon to tell – but the ALS-1300 might be worth a look.
