This tower takes the cake
Brandon, KF6SWL, wrote me in March to ask if he could have a high resolution copy of one of my amateur radio tower pictures. He saw one that he liked on my ham radio tower project pages. He said that he needed this for his wedding plans! You see, Brandon was planning his groom’s cake.
Today, Brandon sent me a picture of the completed cake - featuring a mega-calorie version of my ANwireless HD-70, SteppIR 4 ele and Cushcraft XM-240.
The concept of a "groom’s cake" is relatively foreign for us in the Upper Midwest. My wife’s first reaction was to laugh… then I explained that this cake was not "the" wedding cake and she seemed to be ok with the idea.
In fact, Lynne has been kicking herself for not thinking of incorporating my tower on my birthday cake last fall. She has ordered those picture cakes in the past… but she didn’t think of it when I turned 40 last year shortly after installing my first tower. Brandon’s cake would have been perfect. Oh well… maybe next time.
Congrats to Brandon! Hope to talk to him again sometime soon and hope that groom’s cake tasted as good as it looked. Last time I have seen groom’s cake’s was when I lived in the south where they are commonplace in weddings from Texas to the Carolina’s.
