Burying coax in 4" PVC

Thinking a bit more about running coax to the tower. In an earlier post, I described the general plan for grounding. That hasn’t changed much, but over the noon hour today I went to the local Menards to investigate PVC coupling options and copper (no cheap sources yet) to use as ground straps (roofing flashing might be an option).

I’m now contemplating a trench with 4″ PVC to protect the 3 or 4 coax runs to the tower. In addition to the usual questions ham radio operators face when burying coax, I’m challenged with having to go around my septic field (laterals).   The trench would bury the PVC/coax lines and go around the septic field.  Overall run should be about 110′ to the shack.

tower_groundingNear the property line (east chain link fence), I think I’ll install access points with 45 degree PVC elbows.  Each elbow will  be connected to an access/test “Tee” which will pointed up (access at the surface). This will allow access to the elbow and should let me encourage the coax to run past the PVC elbow when necessary.

I’m not sure yet how deep the trench should be for the PVC. Any ideas?
