Ham Radio – A contact sport

For a long time, I’ve been kicking around the idea of creating a ham radio products and services review section of my website. My thinking was that there were some review sites out there (notably, the reviews section of eHam and uhhh, well not much else). The problems I had with the eHam site were:

• anonymous reviews (reviews not tied to a callsign/person)
• categories were confusing
• only one rating scale (which leads to folks give a product a “5″ and leaving comments like “in performance this is a 5, but in appearance and reliability it’s a 2)
• no good way to find all reviews by a particular user (to determine whether he rates everything high or low)
• no good way to compare a ham radio product against the mean scores for a category
