Montenegro DX Festival 2006 hits the ham radio airwaves
A newly minted country means a new DXCC entity - Montenegro. The three week long DX festival from a brand new country in the balkans has started off with massive pile-ups thanks to what must be a dream station. Today, I’ve heard the 4O3T station working 20 meters for the second time. Although the operator seemed a bit overwhelmed, many QSOs were being completed thanks to fair operating conditions - considering that we’re at the bottom of the cycle.Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to work 4O3T through the chaos/QRM. They’ve recorded 30,000 QSOs so far and have a goal of 200,000 QSOs. Hopefully, I’ll be able to snag them soon.
While I was unable to work the 4O3T special event station in Montenegro while I was driving home from work today, I was able to work LZ1BJ (Bulgaria). Not as rare, but glad to know that the Icom IC-706 MKIIG and High Sierra Little Sidekick were being heard somewhere.
