Tower foundation planning

I met with a guy I know today who runs an excavation company, http://www.keithcooperandsons.com/. Matt said that the excavation for my tower base (9′x9′x5′) would be easy (compared to what they do I’m sure that’s right). He really recommended that I look at a concrete pumper truck and thought that a small crane should be able to handle the job. The trick will be to get it to the back of the yard (around the septic lateral lines).

Thankfully, I was able to get a zoning permit (as they’re known in Iowa) to cover the construction of the tower. Zoning in my area (rural Boone county) doesn’t cover ham radio towers and antennas, so it was a matter of submitting a plan to the zoning director and pointing out that it’s beyond the scope of the zoning board.
