Ham Radio: Software

ACE stands for "Animated Communications Effectiveness", a coverage display technique originally developed for U.S. Navy submarine communications. Written for Windows 32-bit by Richard Buckner, this program uses GeoClock maps, a format that has been choosen in order to match the displays with ACE-VLF used by military clients.

AE4JY has a number of software utilities for hams including: WinPSK, PSKcore DLL (for software developers to incorporate PSK into apps), AO40Rcv, Pathsim, MeteorSim, and WinXcv. Additionally, he has a VersaBeacon project and various dsp projects underway.

Propfire is a web browser extension for the Firefox brower. It displays propagation information in the status bar. A-index, Solar Flux (SFI), and K-index values appear and users can obtain full WWV reports easilty. Ham radio operators who rely on accurate solar propagation information and who use Firefox will want to use Propfire.
