| Description: Crank-up ham radio towers are often used by hams who do not want to climb or otherwise need to adjust the height of the tower. There are pros and cons to consider when reviewing ham radio tower options. For example, crank up towers may be considered by hams who are safety conscious, however, crank-up towers also require more maintenance than other tower options (self supporting or guyed towers). If the installation is poor, if the tower is overloaded or not designed to handle the wind, or if the cable is not lubed and maintained. |
