Category: Ham Radio: Software
|
| Description: Software for ham radio antennas. Ham radio operators often design and optimize antennas using software packages. This software may be used to model structural components, electrical components (such as antenna traps and coils) or other factors (ground, height, etc.). Ham radio antenna experimentation is an interesting facet of our hobby that has been around since the beginning - software tools to enable amateur radio enthusiasts to virtually construct and test antenna designs is growing in popularity today.
What would Maxwell have done with these tools? |

NEC4WIN95
NEC4WIN95
NEC4WIN95 is a 32 bits antenna simulation software based on MININEC3 developed by the Naval Ocean Systems Center in the 70s and 80s. It runs under Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000. It can be used to simulate, analyze and optimize wire antennas, beams, verticals, etc...
NEC4WIN95 has limitations. They are the same as Mininec3 on which the engine is based. Close parallel wires, horizontal wires too close to the ground, sharp corners may be a problem to simulate. Log Periodics and Transmission Lines can't be simulated accurately with it. Antenna impedance is always calculated based on Perfect Ground.
The number of wires supported by NEC4WIN95 is limited to 50 and segment to 250 and for complex projects you should look at NEC4WIN95VM.
