Ham Radio: Yagi

Description:  Many ham radio operators use Yagi (or beam) antennas to maximize gain and improve front-to-back signal ratios (gain). The Yagi antenna (formally known as the Yagi-Uda antenna) uses a balun fed dipole antenna and some number of parasitic elements (passive radiators that are not connected to the feedline directly). Yagis are used in ham radio on HF, VHF, and UHF quite regularly and have even been used in low-band operations by hams on 80 meters.
