Description: J Pole antennas are common in ham radio VHF and UHF projects and are easy to build using readily available construction materials. Especially common are 2 meter J-Pole (144 MHz) and 70 cm J poles for 440 MHz. Dual-band JPole projects are also common among ham radio operators.
This article describes the construction of a 20 meter J-Pole ham radio antenna. K6AER used a fifty-foot TV push up mast, schedule 40 PVC insulators for standoffs, 12 gauge wire for the matching section and a wooden post.
