| Description: Morse Code operators often rely on keyers to improve their CW sending capabilities. What is a Morse Code keyer? A keyer is a device to assist the operator in sending the Morse Code elements at a consistent rate (dits are always the same length, dahs are the same length, spacing between elements is the same, etc.). Because the morse code is being sent more consistently, the ham radio operator on the receiving end usually can copy the CW much better. Keyers typically interact with paddles and may be electronic devices or even built into the transceiver. Memory keyers can store and playback frequently sent strings of characters in CW such as a callsign. |
