Ham radio operators often use several types of transmission line at their station. Coaxial cable is pretty much a standard for VHF and UHF applications, but HF operators also rely on coax for its ease-of-use. Many hams also use ladder-line or other open feedlines for their low-loss characteristics. Antenna feedpoint characteristics, environment, tuner/coupler and radio inputs all must be factored when choosing transmission lines for ham radio stations.
